Children may not know anything about the celebration of Valentines Day – but they definitely know and understand love.  Love is a wonderful thing and should definitely be celebrated.  Giving and receiving love is essential for children's WELLBEING.

In many countries around the world Valentines Day celebrates love and friendships

Valentines Day gives opens up a great opportunity to recognise children’s emotions, in particular love and friendship and most importantly the love that they have for themselves.

Children experience love in many ways – the love they have for their family, friends, carers, animals or toys.

When we incorporate celebrations from around the world we learn about traditions and the meanings that celebrations embrace.

Valentine’s Day is also an opportunity to learn about love and friendships from around the world.
